Are you a high performing strategist/planner looking for a capital city career change? 

We’re on the lookout for a Wellington-based Strategist/Planner to join an established Creative Communications Agency as a key senior hire. This person will be experienced in providing strategic consulting services to medium-large NZ businesses and organisations as they seek to implement growth initiatives with key target audiences, especially in the commercial and government.

Their experience in leading organisation culture change strategies, customer audience analysis, revenue generation and customer acquisition strategies and new product/service planning and development strategies will assist the incumbent to deliver value-added services to our agency client’s customer base.

This role has three key purposes within the agency, the first to provide exceptional customer experiences for existing and new clients through strategic planning and proactive development of relationships. The second, to assist the Management Team with the development of the agency brand and finally, to carry out any additional activities that are related to the effective development and success of the company, as requested by the Managing Director.

Required Experience:

  • 10+ years’ agency experience
  • Experience at a leadership level in client relationship management and communications planning in design, advertising, direct marketing or digital services
  • Experience of working with government sector clients would be advantageous

Required Skills:

  • A strong understanding of brand strategy and organisation positioning
  • Ability to think strategically and develop unique and/or robust solutions
  • Ability to present strategic initiatives at SLT or Board level
  • Management of high-profile brands, either client or agency side
  • Development and successful implementation of national marketing and/or communication strategies
  • Ability to lead and fulfil the requirements of tendering for new business via GETS
  • Knowledge of creative process and techniques, including digital platforms
  • A focus on developing and achieving personal goals and objectives
  • Management of a diverse range of projects simultaneously
  • Ability to mentor less qualified colleagues (team and client), as required
  • Ability to establish and achieve revenue targets

  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • Confidence to present, negotiate and facilitate

 Required Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in marketing (or a similar field) is preferable

Salary Range:

  • $120-150k depending on experience
