This year The Pond is partnering UX Auckland, a fast-growing digital meet-up group focused on knowledge sharing and networking. With 5 professional events a year, UX Auckland works with UX practitioners to provide top industry insights, knowledge and education on the latest UX developments.
We officially kicked off the 2020 event calendar by sponsoring the first event last Thursday – a panel discussion on what hiring managers and recruiters look for when recruiting digital talent in 2020.
There were over 60 attendees for the event from all walks of UX design with a blend of experiences from junior to senior professionals - all looking to get the inside scoop on hiring. It was a timely topic with the demand for digital skills at an all-time high in the job market.
Providing the insights was a panel of industry leaders from varying backgrounds and companies - two of our own Talent Director’s even featured in the 5-person lineup. There were tips and advice provided on the best way to present your portfolio, right steps to interviewing and the big no’s that UX designers must avoid if they don’t want to become another resume in a pile.
As an additional bonus, we gave 10 lucky people the chance to have a 60-minute career check with The Pond. This will cover everything from market rates, skills assessment and advice on roles that best fit the candidate's profiles.
After a successful and informative evening, we are excited to partner with UX Auckland for their upcoming events. There’ll be speakers, panel discussions and more so stay tuned to find out further info!
